What to send for a Stewart transfer
Stewart is far enough from the city that a missing flight time or a vague destination ruins the quote. These are the inputs that matter.
Swipe sideways to read every column.
| Input | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Direction | An arrival pickup and a departure drop-off are different clocks. |
| Flight number and date | The airport is not a drive you start from a guessed landing time. |
| City address and entrance | Manhattan, the boroughs, Westchester and a Hudson Valley stop are different trips. |
| Passengers and bags | A sedan, SUV or Sprinter has to match the people who are actually on the flight. |
| If the car should wait | A held car is hourly, with a three-hour minimum. A single transfer is not. |
Use the airport’s current instructions
The Port Authority’s site for New York Stewart, swfny.com, is the source for how the airport is operating. Its transportation page describes public transportation, rideshare and taxi pickup outside the terminal, rental cars on the first level, and a cell phone lot plus short-term parking for people waiting. It also points travelers to authorized shuttle, van and private-car options. Read that page close to the trip. Check swfny.com for current shuttle times and fares. A reserved car is quoted separately.
A reserved car still needs a meeting plan. Ask, when you book, where the chauffeur will stop for your arrival, and follow both that confirmation and the airport’s current signs. Do not treat a rideshare curb as the automatic car-service door.
Arriving at SWF
Send the flight number, date, airline and whether anyone checked a bag. Stewart is a smaller airport than JFK or Newark, but you still need the time to leave the aircraft and collect luggage before you walk outside. If two people are on different flights, list both. A car cannot meet a flight that was never on the reservation.
Then send the real destination. A Midtown hotel, a Westchester office, a Brooklyn apartment and a stop elsewhere in Orange County are different trips. The route and the time of day change the quote. Published airport examples cover JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro. Stewart is quoted from your flight and street address.
Leaving the city for a Stewart departure
Work backward from the airline’s check-in guidance, not from a round number of hours. The pickup is at your building entrance in the city or the suburbs. Add the flight, the date and the terminal information the airline gave you. If you are unsure of the terminal, say so rather than copying a terminal from a previous trip.
A Manhattan departure is a long drive. Leave extra time beyond the airline’s cutoff so a late start does not cost the flight. If you need a stop on the way, put it in the request.
Vehicle and the hours after landing
Choose the class from the people and bags. Sedans start at $120 an hour, SUVs at $150, the S-Class at $175 and a Sprinter at $200 when the booking is hourly, each with a three-hour minimum. A direct Stewart transfer should be quoted as that transfer. Use hourly only if the car continues to other addresses after the airport.
Book Stewart when the ticket says SWF. Westchester Airport is a different field and a different drive. JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro are separate trips as well.
Questions before booking
Is there a flat rate from Stewart to Manhattan?
No. JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro have published Manhattan examples. Stewart is quoted from your flight, time and street address.
Where do I meet the car at SWF?
Use the meeting point in your confirmation and the current signs at the airport. Check swfny.com/transportation before you travel. Do not assume the rideshare curb is the car-service stop.
Is Stewart the same as Westchester Airport?
No. Stewart (SWF) is the Newburgh-area airport. Westchester County Airport (HPN) has a separate page and a different drive.
Can the car take us onward after the airport?
Yes, if you book those stops. Say whether the car is released after the first address or held. Held time uses the hourly rates and the three-hour minimum.
Should I use the airport shuttle instead?
The airport describes a public shuttle and rail connection on its own site. Use that if it matches your trip. A car service is the reserved door-to-door alternative, quoted separately. Confirm any shuttle time or fare on swfny.com rather than from memory.
