UNGA Transportation in New York City

UNGA transportation is a chauffeured itinerary for United Nations General Assembly week and the meetings around it. The car follows the addresses and times you send. It does not come with a security credential, a police escort, or a fixed map of closed streets. Those rules change by year and must come from the current official notices you have.

The week is a schedule, not a special kind of car

Delegates, staff and visitors still need ordinary trip decisions: which hotel, which meeting, which flight, and whether the car waits. The United Nations Headquarters is in Turtle Bay, on First Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. That location is the reason traffic and building access are tighter in a General Assembly session than on an ordinary Tuesday. It is not a promise that a particular block is closed, or that a chauffeur can approach a gate.

Read the current visitor information on un.org for the complex itself. Street restrictions, credential rules and motorcade windows are issued for the session. Use the notice you were given by the UN, your mission, your hotel security team or the City, and paste the instruction that applies to your party into the booking.

Hotels, missions and split movements

Most parties are not in one vehicle all day. A principal may go from a Midtown hotel to a mission on the East Side, then to a lunch, while staff move an hour later. Write those as separate movements. A Sprinter suits people who actually ride together. A sedan or S-Class suits a small party. Starting hourly rates, if the car is held, are $120, $150, $175 and $200 for sedan, SUV, S-Class and Sprinter, with a three-hour minimum. A single hop can be quoted as a transfer instead.

Name the entrance the hotel will use that week. A main door on the avenue may be the wrong door when the property is running a UNGA arrival plan of its own. If the hotel gave you a side-street instruction, send it. If it did not, say that the door is unconfirmed.

Airports before and after the meetings

Arrivals still depend on the flight, the terminal and bags. JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro are the usual choices, and each airport page explains the meeting pattern. Add the first meeting time so the car is not planned as if landing time and a Turtle Bay appointment are the same moment.

Departures need the airline cutoff and the hotel pickup entrance. A reception that ends near the UN does not set the airport pickup by itself. If two people leave for different flights, they need two cars or a written order of drop-offs that still makes both cutoffs.

How to ask for the cars

Send the dates, the passenger names or headcount, the hotel, the meeting addresses you are allowed to share, and the times. Attach only the access note you actually received. Ask the quote to price each movement and to say whether the car is released after drop-off.

Send the dates as a UN-week itinerary, with the official limits you actually have. A roadshow outside that week is an ordinary executive booking. A social evening is a special-event booking.

Questions before booking

Can the car enter a closed street during UNGA?

Only if your current official instruction says that vehicle may use that street, and the confirmation accepts the trip on that basis. This service does not issue credentials or keep a standing closure map.

Do you provide diplomatic plates or a security detail?

No. The booking is a chauffeur and a vehicle class. Security, plates and access passes are not part of it.

Where is the UN pickup?

Use the entrance your host or the UN assigned for that meeting. Headquarters is on First Avenue in Turtle Bay, but the usable door and the nearby streets depend on that session’s rules.

Should one van collect the whole delegation?

Only if they share the hotel, the meeting and the luggage plan. Different flights or different meeting times need separate cars. Confirm the Sprinter layout before you assign seats.

What should I send if I do not have a traffic notice yet?

Send the hotels, meetings and flights you do know, and say that street access is still unconfirmed. Do not ask for a plan that assumes last year’s closures.
